I must be the queen of unfinished projects! I swear I have at least a dozen little DIY projects running through my head at any given moment. Everything from my never ending bathroom project, to making new curtains, to painting furniture... the list goes on! One thing I have recently realized is that my decor is a bit predictable.... I mean its not like my walls are flat white or anything but it was time for a change. One thing I have been dying to try is a unique paint design, you know, maybe stripes or something, anything different than what I have. Then I saw the beautiful chevron wall on pinterest! Oh how I love pinterest! I had the perfect wall space to do something crazy like that, a little 3 maybe 4 foot section in between my kitchen and living room. I am very happy with how it turned out! In all it was a 2 maybe 3 day project, mostly because I had to go out and buy paint and you know me, I am not a planner so I had to keep stopping in the middle of my project to go out and buy supplies. It did make it a more pleasant experience than it probably would have been if I had done the whole thing in one sitting. The measuring of the graph and the taping was enough of a headache, I couldn't imagine painting all in the same day! I will say I would never do this design on a large wall, or if I did I would make the pattern MUCH larger, it would be way too busy! As it is i am very happy with how it turned out! It inspired us to paint our whole living room / hall / kitchen so everything matched!
the wall before was a soft sage green color, same as the hallway and part of the living room. I had a very neutral palate, soft greens and tans mostly, and a little bit of light yellow in the kitchen.
The Taping... oh the taping! this color looks pretty green still in the picture, I think I must have had my white balance wrong on my camera... the color is definitely a aqua color.
The finished product! I love the way it turned out! I also used the rest of the darker aqua color on my husbands desk which sits right next to our front door... It just ties it all together. I love it!
This is my dresser in our bedroom, it was a cheap craigslist find I scored for $40! It was so scratched up and gross, not something I would like in my home! But with a little sanding, okay a lot of sanding, and a few coats of primer and a few more coats of paint its perfect! I just love how white paint brings out all of the detail! Notice one of the handles is missing, of course it broke as we were installing it! I have a few more projects we are finishing up, our bathroom, a super cool barn door, a bedroom update in the boys room, a wood panel wall ( not nasty gross paneling, think pallet panel...
