The Finished Product!

I shared a few weeks ago that My wonderful Husband was making me a headboard out of an old door that I had sitting in our garage for over a year! Well... It is finally finished! It took me quite a while to paint because it has been so cold out here this past week! I was dying to get it back into the house. it turned out beautifully! it is absolutely not a perfect paint job... the garage is so dimly lit that it didn't notice some places that needed a little more attention. Luckily it is supposed to look a bit " shabby" I love it!

Up next for that husband of mine... a pair of bookcases...

Cabin Fever

We have had no power at our house since Tuesday... it is now Friday...
Well actually it has been off and on... out of the past 3 days we have probably had electricity for  maybe 20 hours. Thankfully we have been staying with my in laws for the past few nights. I really should have thought ahead and brought some of my craft projects with me since I have a ton of time on my hands. I don't have to be busy doing the every day stuff like laundry, vacuuming, cleaning etc... although I am guessing i will have a blast cleaning out the fridge when our lights finally do come on. I'm just praying that our frozen goods stay just that... frozen. Of course I just went to Costco last week! I'm trying not to think about all that money that is defrosting as I type...
Anyway I am helping my dear friend, one of my best friends with an event at our church next month. I love to decorate and make things so I am helping with the table decor. I made these cute little flowers to go on part of the centerpiece. Aren't they cute!!!!!???? I am thinking I need a little girl so I can make all sorts of flower headbands, hair clips etc... For now I will just have to settle for making them for the 3 baby girls that will be born this spring!
I am very lucky to be staying at a place FILLED with every crafty thing imaginable... my mother in law is an amazing crafter, sew-er... she is letting me go to town on her fabric scraps... I only have about 30 more of these to make!

I just love to make things that are beautiful!
Happy snow day(s) everyone!

Everything Looks Beautiful Covered in Snow

We woke up this morning to a good 8 inches of snow! And of course... in our neck of the woods... no power! We were worried about being able to get Micah into work, he cant really make his own schedule anymore, plus we didn't want to freeze to death, so we packed up and headed to my in laws. We will be there for a few days, it seems like this is an annual tradition, maybe we should come up with a name for it! I am so thankful that they will take us in... all of us! ( two adults, two kids, and two dogs! The top photo is our road, our car almost didn't make it up the hill! We have AWD and have never had a problem with the snow!

This is the fence in front of our house...

A bench at my in laws, this was taken on Sunday... there is way more snow on it now!

Thought this was cool, after church on Sunday I was waiting in the car for Micah and the sun was in just the right spot... even ugly power lines are pretty cool looking in the snow!

Sledding

We have this great hill right in front of our house, that is PERFECT for sledding! Micah took the boys and they loved it! I tried to get some good pictures but they turned out a little blurry, plus I don't have a zoom lens so I had to crop the photos a lot which probably made them look more blurry! Oh well, such is life! I love these memories we made... I laughed so hard watching them come down the hill! I love these guys! Especially that handsome one in the first photo!

Look at these faces! I love it!

One of my favorite photos... hands down! Look at their faces, I don't even care about the blurr...

A Snow Day with Cousins

Sunday we were surprised to wake up to snow! It was so much fun going to my in laws after our church service and letting the boys play with their cousins and uncle, ( Thank you David!!!) As soon as we were finished eating dinner the boys were chomping at the bit to get outside in the snow, they were convinced that it was starting to melt... someone was teasing them by telling them that it was all melting. Sounds like something my husband would do! Anyway after dinner they were off, they built a awesome snowman, and I was able to get TONS of pictures! Hey, around here when it snows you had better get out in it quickly before it melts!

hmmm wonder why Noah's lips are so chapped!

I got so many great pictures of Landon! I just love the way he is kind of hunched over with his hands together, so cute!

Oh! LOVE this one of Lando!

Caleb putting the snow man's arms in

Noah helping smooth out the snow mans head

I'm not sure what Caleb and Landon are doing here, I think they are pulling some pine needles off the branches that make up the snow mans arms. I thought it was cute that they were working together... something my boys have yet to learn.

Look at this sweet face!

Joshua walking around in the snow at our house. You can see we didn't get a ton that day, maybe 3 or 4 inches, you could see the grass where we rolled the snow man ball. Man oh Man you have to dig through a good 8 inches to see the grass today!

Noah loves the snow! Notice his gap... The dentist couldn't save his tooth ( it was actually two teeth that were conjoined, but in the middle where they meet there was no enamel, after 4 years it just wore away) I'm not sure if  I blogged about our dental experience or not... I am so glad it is over! It is awful having your child go under anesthesia... an experience I don't want to ever repeat

This is Caleb at the church Sunday morning! It was dumping!

Sweet Joshua going for a walk in the snow... in his Sunday best

I Love My Family

Winter is one of my favorite seasons! Unfortunately my husband does not share the same love for the cold weather as I do! The past few days we have been hearing about this huge winter storm that is coming... my boys and I have been so excited, Micah has been grumbling about it a bit. To say he doesn't like the snow would be an understatement. The snow hit us on Sunday morning, and hasn't stopped! It is beautiful! One of the reasons that I love the snow so much is that it forces us to slow down... something we don't do often. It forces us to just be together, without all of the distractions that a busy life can bring. Monday Micah had the day off so we spent a few hours out in the snow. It was a perfect day!

I love my family!

There's nothing like my man using power tools...

We have had this beautiful antique door sitting in our garage for over a year now... I recieved it as a birthday gift last year and planned on turning it into a headboard for our bed.
This is how My amazing husband spent his saturday afternoon... I will post pictures of the finished product later!
